Why recommend the Defeat Diabetes Program?

The Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program is a self-managed course to transition patients and clients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes into therapeutic carbohydrate restriction.

The program recommends a low carb, healthy fat diet of <50g carbs per day to improve glycaemic control. Over 13 modules, patients and clients will learn the foundations of a low carb approach, supported by practical pathways to put low carb into practice through recipes and weekly meal plans.

Members are encouraged to join the Defeat Diabetes closed community for peer-to-peer connection, with on-demand support from healthcare professionals. Further learning is provided with live interactive webinars from leading TCR medical professionals.

What benefits can your patients or clients expect?

Improved blood glucose levels

Carbohydrate restricted eating tends to improve blood sugar levels almost immediately. This is because carbohydrates restriction limits glucose entering the blood.

Better sleep

Weight loss can ease symptoms of sleep apnoea, meaning patients and clients shouldn't wake so easily in the night. Improved sleep contributes to better energy and mental health.

Weight loss

Therapeutic carbohydrate restriction leads to weight loss, improving appetite control, reduced consumption and increased energy expenditure, even at rest.

Reduced risk of arthritis

When you reduce carbohydrate intake, you reduce inflammation in the body. Reduced inflammation can lead to improvements in joint pain.

Reduced diabetes medications

By lowering blood glucose levels you may be able to reduce diabetic medications; as with all changes to diet, adjustments are required to a patient's medications.

Reduced reflux and heartburn

Research shows that low carbohydrate diets can reduce the amount of acid in the oesophagus and relieve symptoms of reflux that commonly affects people with type 2 diabetes.

The medical team leading the Defeat Diabetes Program

The Defeat Diabetes Program has been created by a team of medical professionals and is recommended by endocrinologists, orthopaedic surgeons, gastroenterologists, physiologists and diabetes educators.
